When will the Southern Poverty Law Center declare the Episcopal Church a Hate Group? Certainly, it has deserved this recognition. The July 30, 2019 letter from the National Cathedral clerics denouncing President Trump is a hate letter, disguised in holier than thou, virtue signaling to the small handful of congregants who have not yet left the Episcopal Church.
This latest screed from the Cathedral is eye opening in that it exposes the sloppy thinking and complete ignorance of the Church’s “leaders,” and is totally devoid of any intellectual heft. Picture a man and two women, dressed in the Church’s best ecclesiastical finery, stomping their feet and screaming at the top of their lungs with all the histrionic drama of a 13 year old shrew telling her parents how much she hates them. In this instance, the parents are traditional Christians, who built, bought and endowed all the church’s fancy buildings and the clerics are simply their spoiled children.
These so called leaders of the Church have been radicalized by the swamp culture of their tony and oh so sophisticated DC surroundings. It seems that it was racist for President Trump to “call out” Congressman Elijah Cummings for being a liar and a hypocrite. There is a mountain of evidence that Cummings has unlawfully misappropriated millions of dollars of federal aid to Baltimore into his own pockets. The black people in Cumming’s district live in an area with the highest per capital murder rate in the country. The streets and neighborhoods are infested with rats and disease. This is fact, but facts mean nothing to the Church’s progressive snowflakes whose feelings are hurt at descriptive and apt verbs ( such as infested) that depict reality. These petulant children screamed that this verb was a “dog whistle,” another catchy leftist word that means “if you criticize me, you are a racist, so shut the hell up.” Who cares more about black people? The President, who has spoken about and worked tirelessly to end the failed liberal policies the Democrat Party has employed to imprison inner city blacks to lives of poverty and despair or the hip virtue signalers of the Georgetown cocktail party circuit? Right after the Cathedral’s letter was published, the Dean of the Cathedral posted pictures on social media of his cruise around the Mediterranean. How very upper class!
These mushy minds of mediocrity paid lip service to all of the left’s talking points: racism, decency, intolerance; they even brought old Joe McCarthy out of the closet. The president apparently is guilty of McCarthyism. Baptized in the waters of liberal group think, they surely are unaware of the great service that McCarthy performed for his country. He was a boorish drunk, but he exposed dozens of fellow travelers ( Soviet spies) entrenched in our government, with the sole mission to destroy the United States and its democratic institutions. As the Soviet archives proved, he was mostly right about his accusations. Personally, I am ok with a little bit of boorishness if it keeps America from going red, an infinitesimal price to pay.
The other crime of the century screeched by the bratty children of the Cathedral was the president criticizing certain members of Congress. How shocking! Despicable! Representative Tlaib publicly called the president a Mother F—ker, but when the president fights back, he is a racist! Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a radical, hate filled socialist. Ilhan Omar has made a litany of statements in support of sharia law and Al Qaeda.
The Cathedral’s histrionic no-nothings are aghast that the President is challenging their social justice heroes, yet by sending out a letter to the world attacking the president, they can virtue signal how morally superior and groovy they are and get lots of “likes” on Facebook, not to mention obsequious accolades from other leftist warriors. Nothing strokes one’s ego more than being a Church Rock Star! It sure beats proselyting about the bible and such middle class subjects like sin, obedience and scripture!
In all the thousands of years of human history, there has never been a country like the United States. There is a level of wealth, liberty and justice never imagined by any previous generation. It is no accident. The architects of our Republic built her foundation on a set of principles emanating out of western civilization, Christian philosophy and English common law and political institutions. What we have achieved is precious. Socialism is a system of government meant to enrich its leaders by fanning the flames of jealousy and hatred, it leads to just one place: tyranny, serfdom and death. The President is right to attack the proponents of this mendacious philosophy. I and many other Episcopalians support President Trump; the stakes are huge.
