WHY DOES VIRGINIA NEED CASINO GAMBLING?

WHY DOES VIRGINIA NEED CASINO GAMBLING?

Corruption in RichmondRight now six groups are vying for approval for a mega-million dollar gambling/hotel venue right smack in the middle of Richmond. Now that our Leninist leaders have destroyed all of our history (the reason people from all over the world spend hundreds of millions of dollars here); let’s crush our social fabric by becoming Atlantic City! Good thinking Comrades!
Alex de TocThis is bad idea. de Tocqueville was on the money when he said “America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” The government should never be in the business of promoting a vice. People are going to gamble, but the government should not be enabling, promoting and profiting from this sordid activity. The government should be promoting virtue by not promoting vice. This is a sad development, slipping, sliding, devolving and descending us into the cultural abyss.
Cui Bono? Not the average citizen, not the taxpayers and certainly not our already debased culture. The government’s message should be “work hard, save your money, create jobs and opportunity with your wealth.” This message is “be irresponsible and foolish” because we the slick politicians and special interests will make plenty of money off of your vulnerabilities. The odds are stacked up front, the House Always Wins. Thus, when the govt promotes gambling, the govt is stealing from the dumb and the weak. It is absolutely immoral.
Sad People GamblingThe govt should be promoting individual economic opportunity which elevates vulnerable people away from addiction and bad habits. Here, our Commissars are doing the opposite. The social costs and damage to what’s left of our “Protestant Work Ethic” ethos is enormous. Our society is already suffering from addiction to alcohol, drugs and pornography. Gambling addiction is especially pernicious, families are ruined, wives are beaten, children suffer and often those abused turn to alcohol, drugs and petty crimes. The cycle not only continues, but deepens.
The politicians will promise that the tax revenue from gambling will go to venerable causes and all willRichard III Needs a horse be rosy. The last thing we need to do is give politicians more money, for it is they who have the greatest addiction problems and cause the greatest damage to our culture. The slick promotors will give money to politicians, the politicians will put conditions on the slick promotors to “pay” their supporters and the pols’ children and family members will get jobs. A cycle of corruption at the expense of the weak.
We’ve seen this play over and over. It is a Shakespearean tragedy. Save yourself the trouble, turn directly to Act V. Like Richard III, we will lose the Kingdom and give up everything to scurry away…….
